Hey Histonet,

We are currently looking into purchasing a refurbished backup processor. We recently had issues with both our processors causing patient care delays. Currently we have 2 VIP 6's and one thermos STP 420 AKA POS/Washing machine. The stp 420 is no longer in use because it had spun multiple patient biopsies out of the cassette, one was lost and one was found stuck to another cassette and had to be sent for DNA comparison. We thought about putting it back in service as a backup but the manufacturer requires two PM's a year @ $5,500 per PM, so we are looking at other options. We have received a quote for a refurbished VIP 5 And VIP 6. The VIP 5 is about half the cost of the 6. Does anyone out there know main differences, which one is better? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
