[Histonet] VIP 5 VS. VIP 6

Hi Andy,

I prefer the VIP6.  It is easier to program, can have more programs and is
slightly easier to use than the VIP5.  The VIP6 is more computerized than
the VIP5 and can generate reports such as error logs, tissue processing
runs (to name a few) that you can put on a flash drive for further
analysis.  The VIP6 also has bulk tanks (we use them for the alcohol and
xylene) that can be used to fill up those reagents if they run low during
processing.  It also has drain and intake ports that can be used to drain
the reagent containers with minimal fumes.  It can also drain and rotate
the paraffin tanks.

The VIP6 has a touch screen monitor, the VIP5 does not.  If you just need a
workhorse processor, the VIP5 should work just fine.  I would call
Sakura-Finetek and ask what the parts availability is like for the VIP5.
They are older models and you never know when parts might become
unavailable.
