Your pathologist may be referring to Carnoy's fixative.  It is composed
of chloroform, acetic acid and and alcohol.  When specimens are placed
in the Carnoy's, the lymph nodes will turn "white".  The tissue sections
can then be placed in 10% NBF and processed as usual.  Hope this info
