[Histonet] Congo Red and Amyloid

Morning Histonetters.....

Our lab is currently having a 'discussion' about our Congo Red stain for
amyloid in regards to when Hematoxylin should be used, before or after. Is
there anyone out there that can explain the reason it should be used prior
or post the Congo Red step? 
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
