Toni, hope my 5 cents contribution will Help in deciding your future auto stainer.
I have experience in Sakura units, 6 + years, and an old Leica unit, 10 + years.
The most positive feature for the first unit is that once is giving the proper maintenance is that it works pretty well, the good advantage is that you can load in every oven, (coming with 2 oven dwells), but if you overloaded it will delay your H&E staining. I think with other models is occurring the same results…
Other advantage now is that you can attach an automatic cover slipper.
(Film cover slipped)…
It’s important to have at least 2 units for a big number of H&E slides…
I was working in a facility with at least 45 hundred H&E slides, no counting levels per protocols, recuts, etc.,
The only downside for all units, is that they cannot left without proper regular maintenance and service.
At this moment you may have almost decided which unit serves your lab needs better.
Thanks for your reply,
René Morales

If you (or anyone else on histonet) have experience with either or both of these stainers, I'd like to know what you feel are the best features. Also looking to see what features are not as well praised or useful. Which specials do you run, and how do they compare to what you were previously using? How did getting one of these stainers impact your day-to-day operations? Did the positives outweigh the negatives, if there were any.

What specials do you run on these stainers? Does this significantly increase the TAT of the H&E slides? Overall, what do you like or not like about either?
