We use the McDonald's Gram Stain kit from American Master Tech, which employs the use of a Modified Tartrazine counterstain. Both our docs and techs love our Gram stains . . .

Our new Pathologist would like to see more yellow in the background of our Gram stain. We use picric acid-acetone currently, which looks more pink than yellow most times. So I'm wondering if a method using a Tartrazine counterstain would be better.
Any thoughts?
