Have you tried Resorcin fucshin H&E?
1 g RF
100 ml 70% ethanol
1 ml HCL
Stain in RF solution 15-30 minutes , according to depth desired
wash off excess stain in 95% alcohol
Wash in tap water 3-5 minutes
Follow with routine H&E
