[Histonet] counter stain for PAS for fungus

Hi everyone I am having a problem with the fast green counterstain for the PAS for fungus.  The fast green stain is simply not staining anymore no matter how long I leave it on the specimen.  Do you have any suggestions on how to correct this or perhaps recommendations for a different counterstain. Our protocol is as follows:
Periodic Acid 7 min
quick rinse 
Schiff solution 20min
wash for 10min
Fast green stain 1 min
 Any help is appreciated.
