That's exactly what we do.  After the potassium permanganate /sulfuric acid we neutralize it and put in down the drain with copious amounts of water.

Please correct me if I am wrong but if you use potassium permanganate sulfuric acid, do you not deactivate the mutagenic properties?  Then disposal would not require a hazardous waste container.
