[Histonet] help for silver

Some 35 years ago, a person older than I told me the most effective way to get silver stains off skin was to rub the affected part with slightly dampened mercuric chloride powder. He may have been right; I never tried it! I've tried things like iodine-thiosulphate and Farmer's reducer (ferricyanide + thiosulphate mixture) but my experience is that they do very little. The blackened epidermis flakes off, usually in a couple of days.
