Yes, that is correct for Diff Quik stains on Non-gyn specimens.

Subject: [Histonet] CPT code 88313 on non-gynecological cases

Hello to all:

On non-gyn cases which have smears stained with Diff-Quik, are you charging 88313 (special stain) for the Diff-Quik. Our hospital coder insists that we can and should be charging this on all non-gyn cases when a Diff-Quik stain is performed, besides the routine normal charges.
Thanks for your input.
