Mike Pence asks about control tissue for immunohistochemical staining
of Helicobacter.

You really do need a positive control for every run of this stain, and
it's one stain where the negative control is also actually needed, on
account of background staining.

Gastrectomy specimens positive for Helicobacter are rather rare now. I
think that you must have some way of detaching the patient's
identification from your control material. This is a situation where
you may actually need to communicate with your pathologist.

Parenthetically, Helicobacter heilmannii, which I have seen once in my
life, also reacts with Helicobacter antibodies used for
immunostaining.
