Besides eating, also consider chewing of gum, or sucking on mints or candy,
as a way of depleting diastase.
One reason to consider using commercial amylase/diastase. Standardization.
Along with lack of bacteria and epithelial cells showing up on the patient's
slides.

Subject: [Histonet] Spit and Diastase
Hi Gang,
What would cause someone's spit to no longer work while doing a PAS w/
Diatase. She is a trainee and has done this several times prev to this w/o
any issues and all the sudden her spit does not work. Did not work
yesterday nor did the repeat today work. Well off to repeat it again w/ my
spit.
Any suggestions,
Thanks
Helayne Parker
