Carbol-Fuchsin has been known to precipitate out of solution, usually due 
to exposure to extreme temperatures during shipping.  The small red 
granules can be confused with AFB.  A clue would be seeing dye particles 
deposited on parts of the slide where there should be no specimen.   Pitch 
the bottle and ask for a replacement.  Do not try to filter!
