Hi Debby. I'll do my best to answer your question. When we receive a new lot
of antibody we do a titer check bracketing the current in-use titer. For
example if the current titer is 1:50, we would titer check the new lot at
1:25, 1:50, and 1:100. We use the control tissue currently in use - this way
we can compare the new lot of antibody with the current lot on the same
tissue (I think that can be important). We use the current pretreatment. We
compare it with our current antibody & QC, pick a titer (sometimes we have
to do more than just our bracketing titer). Document titer on the new lot
data sheet, enter titer into our computer data base & are ready to go. Just
an fyi - we have little stickers we print off & put on the data sheets. The
stickers have a space for date received, lot #, titer, and date lot is put
in use. I hope this helps. There are a few more details, if you'd like more
just let me know.
