You and the Manager, keep the Medical Director well away. Hiring
requires common sense not an MD.

Subject: Who should be doing the hiring?
Hello to all in histoland. I have been finally given another position
for a
full time tech. My question is, who should ultimately make the decision
on
who gets the position. Should it be the supervisor, the medical
director
or the manager? I have been the supervisor here for the last 10 years.
I
made the decision on who we should hire for the last position that we
had
open. We now have a new medical director who feels that they should
have
the ultimate say in the decision. I feel that I should have the last
say in
the matter due to the fact that I will know what type of person would
be
best to work in the area, and besides I have to be the one that will
supervise this person. The medical director and the manager will not be
in
the lab for the day to day operations. I'll take any feedback regarding
this situation.
Thanks
Allison Scott
