Partially unwrap a gauze square. Place the ice cube in the middle, and wrap
the gauze around the cube, pulling the extra material into a "tail".

Now you have a "handle" to hold onto the ice cube, without holding onto the
ice.

So your fingers don't get as cold, the ice cube doesn't melt as quickly,
your fingers don't turn into prunes, the ice lasts longer, etc.
