I've been using Crystalmount with AEC and I have had good results 
with it. It sets hard and has a refractive index close to glass, 
so technically you don't have to put a coverslip on it, but I find 
that it improves the resolution to postmount with permount and 
coverslip, after the crystalmount has dried.
