[Histonet] technician vs technologist

Other than frozen sections and special stains, are there any other
restrictions a MLA or technician can not perform?  Are they restricted to
sectioning non biopsy cases or any if they prove their ability.  With the
trend to replace tech's with aids, I want to be sure of their capabilities.
