We buy cresyl violet acetate from Sigma, can buy it other places also -
ACROS via Fisher. No differences, just nomenclature English versus German.
Look for the CI (color index) number, if it is the same, it is certified
by Biological Stain Commission, and also look at formula aka molecular
weight. These are clues to sameness!
Luxol Fast blue is classic Kluver Barrera, found in AFIP manual, and just
about every histotechnology textbook. We don't bother to counterstain most
of the time, but it can be done with Nuclear Fast Red, PAS, or cresyl
violet if needed.
