My mentors way back taught us to use Methyl Green as a counterstain for GMS because it also stains nuclei, but it has to be cleared with chloroform to remove Methyl Violet contamination.
Regards, Laurie.

Subject: [Histonet] Preferred green counterstain for GMS?
Hi,
What is your preferred green counterstain for GMS?
In the kit I have, it suggests Fast Green FCF, Light Green SF Yellowish or
Tartrazine.
Which should I buy?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
