Hi Mary, I was made redundant after almost 40 years with the UK's Medical Research Council at the age of 60 in 2008, I applied for several jobs, was offered interviews for all of them, got the first one at the local university, the down side is that I am on a contract, which has been renewed twice so far but now runs out in August this year and I am not so hopeful as money is tight, so go for it Mary, you have many years of experience and skills and much to offer a future employer and new colleagues.
                        Cheers
                                Richard Edwards

What’s the chance of getting a job in histology as a new grad at age 57. Will gender be an issue? Thanks for the input. Jason
