[Histonet] UPDATE _Solutions that need to be stored cold and also kept in the

Thank you Terri for the information. I had contacted Cancer Diagnostic myself and was told the same thing. Now, for the 2-methy-butane, I don't believe it needs to be frozen as the top temperature allowable is 68 degrees F. But maybe a explosion proof refrigerator would do. I am hoping this is only going to be a temporary issue, as we are awaiting a repair of our HVAC. We currently are at 76 F.

v/r,

Valerie

Just for my info, I looked up BM2. The one that Cancer Diagnostics sells does not need refrigeration. Just storage in a flammable cabinet.

Easy peasy - 2-Methyl butane must be stored in an explosion-proof Freezer, and the other in an explosion proof refrigerator. Fisher Sci and Cardinal sell them. They are a bit of a pain to use because to be explosion proof, there is no defrost cycle, so periodically through the year, must be unplugged and defrosted manually. It might be easier to keep a dewar's flask of liquid nitrogen, and quick chill the the 2-Methyl Butane and needed. Sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with the other product. All the best, Terri

   1. Solutions that need to be stored cold and also kept in the
      flammable cabinet (Hannen, Valerie)

Hi Fellow Histonetters,
We have two solutions that need to be kept in the flammable cabinet but also need to be kept cold
  1. 2-Methylbuntane needs to be kept at 20 C- (68 F)
  2. BM2 (Base Bold Release needs to be refrigerated at 2 to 8 C ( 35 to 46 F)

We are not really sure how to accommodate both off these conditions at the same time.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
TIA
