Hello Histonet! Long time reader, first time poster.

Bear with me, please, traditional histologists; I have an alternative application.
I have an issue that has been vexing me concerning cutting a cross section of a multilayer packaging lamination.
I have a Leica cryostat microtome for the cutting of the sample.
I am using a traditional OCT compound for embedding with limited success, due to the lack of adhesion between the compound and the packaging exterior and interior surfaces.
I have tried using sticky tape (Jenny tape? I forget the name) but this gave even worse results.
Is there a better method to approach this, or am I stuck with my present approach which is literally hit or miss (mostly miss).

Feel free to contact me directly - jbabbitt at fresco.com
Best regards - RJ

Hi, There Histonet, Been a while since I posted anything here.

Does anyone out there have an formalin pump/delivery system for pumping formalin to the grossing stations. Can anyone from UIHC tell me if they still have theirs or put me in touch with someone who knows?

Feel free to reply directly.

Many thanks,

Hi Histonetters,

? Happy Histotechnology Professionals Day A tribute to the artists of diagnosis

Before a diagnosis is spoken, a histotech has already shaped the story. You guide the blade. You balance the stains. You reveal the hidden architecture of tissue ? with precision, patience, and heart.

Today?s blog is for you. A tribute to the art and science of histology, inspired by the painter?s palette used every day in labs across the country.

Whether you?re deep in microtomy, troubleshooting a stain, leading a team, or hiring the next great addition to your lab ? this is your moment.

We see you. We celebrate you. We thank you.
