We had an issue last week where the tech loading the processor forgot to start the machine. The tissues we left in an empty chamber for around 8/9 hours after having been in formalin from anywhere from 3 hours to 10 hours from the surgical sites.
All of the specimens are unreadable. What steps can be taken (if any) to try and salvage the samples and get better slides for the pathologists to read?
