Hi Karen,
We get ours from Sigma-aldrich:
Ammonium Sulfide, 25ml A1952-25 Sigma-Aldrich $34.12 EA 25 ml
This is a 20% solution
We just got some so I know they have it.
We use a 10% solution of this, so it comes out to 2% final concentration: we use 4ml of the ammonium sulfide we buy in 36ml water.
I don't remember the posting but in practical use ammonium sulfide is easily added in excess of the need for the reaction, so in that sense concentration does not matter much. But maybe if you made it super low concentration it would not work as well or as fast. For our purposes 2% final concentration and up is fine.

Dear Mr. Morken,
I found your thread on Histonet regarding ammonium sulfide for muscles. We are running a panel including ATPase every week and have been having problems with the manufacturer with the supply. As of today we were told by FISHER that they are back ordered indefinitely.
What company are you using to buy the 25 ml bottle? I also see you stated back in 2010 that the concentration doesn't matter, but just so you have the information we are using 21% aqueous ammonium sulfide light (as stated on the bottle).
I hope you are still at this email address!
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Karen
