We get good results with 95%. Unless prepping sample for Electron Microscopy, cell membrane preservation doesn't seem to be worth worrying about. It can't be resolved with a light microscope.  A light microscope using a violet monochromatic light source should have the theoretical limits of resolution of  approx. 200nm. Cell membranes... what do they run...  approx. 4nm?

You can't use full concentrate alcohol on such specimen, otherwise you will destroy the cells membrane.
For me I am using 80% Ethanol.
