Schiff's reagent does not need to be refrigerated. It just needs to be screw-capped so that it doesn't decompose by loss of sulphur dioxide. For decades, Schiff has been stored in many labs at 4C for no good reason. It is used at room temperature in both of its histochemical applications: the Feulgen and PAS reactions.
