Metal scrapers may remove some of the ceramic coatings on embedding centers, they do have plastic putty knives at Lowes or Home Depot or where ever you get hardware.

You know what works better? A small, metal drywall taping/mud knife-maybe 3-4 inches. They're more flexible than the plastic scrapers, and I think they actually pick up more paraffin per pass. You can pick these up at any hardware store.
