The life of a basement lab rat isn't all bad! We don't hear thunder storms. We are probably be safe from tornados, hurricanes and will have lots of company if one does come by. Usually no one wants to go to the basement.
There are no windows so there isn't any of the outside world distraction. If it's a beautiful day you don't see it so you don't long to be out there.

Our main Histology lab at UW Madison Hospital is in the basement of the VA (They're) attached. We have to go UP a floor to get to the morgue. Although why they put the morgue on the main level is beyond me... Oh, wait. government administration... I am at one of the outlying clinics and at least we can walk by windows once in a while. :) But for some reason we do get paid more than the med techs here. Knock me over with a feather.
Claire
