We went with a slide printer.  We have used the Sakura (ink) and Thermo
(ribbon) printers.  Both have their good/bad points.

 

There was or may still be a CAP regulation that if you have a label on
the slide that the information had to be visible on the slide underneath
(would have to be looking from the back).  The reason was that if the
label fell off the slide would still have to be identifiable.
