For needle core breast biopsies, we cut several unstained slides - 3 levels and 2 unstained serials at each level.
For vacuum assisted breast biopsies, which have much more tissue and many more blocks, we are finding that we are wasting a lot of slides cutting so many unstained.
However, just yesterday, we had a case with 16 blocks, but two of them had DCIS with a question of microinvasion that would not have been confirmed without the serials for the IHC.
So, our question is, how are you handling the vacuum assisted biopsies?
Thanks for your help! j
