[Histonet] Retention and Disposal of medical hardware

I was wondering what everyone out there is doing in regards to how long
you are keeping medical hardware such as pins/screws/metal
plates/pacemakers, etc. that come from surgeries and how you are
disposing of them?  I know the CAP requirement for wet tissue is 2 weeks
after the final report, but is hardware included in that?  Do they go
through any sort of decontamination before disposing of them?
