Hello,

Please could someone advise me on how to dispose of used ammoniacal silver nitrate solution?

I have read you can precipitate with NaCl or HCl and then filter, but how much is required? Can the filter paper be disposed of in the yellow clinical waste bin or does it need removing by a specialist waste company.

Also is there any way of knowing for certain that once precipitated and filtered the liquid is safe to gown down the drain?

With kind regards,
