I don't pay $1 per slide for the leica slides....so you might want to ask your salesrep.

We can buy locally made plus slides for $1.25 per box of 50 and we can
buy imported Leica slides for about $1 per slide.
The Leica slides are very nice indeed, but the locally made ones provide
similar performance.
