You can freeze samples (either fresh or formalin fixed, but in later case with sucrose cryoprotection) in 7% gelatin in PBS instead of OCT. Sometimes it gives much better conditions for cutting as well.

Hi all

I have to prepare frozen slides of zebra fish, but it is not permitted to use OCT because of the presence of different polymers in the OCT compound. Is anyone of you familiar with the preparation of frozen slides without using OCT?
