We use "batch" controls; one for every antibody (per machine) regardless of how many patient test slides there are.  We do not put the positive control tissue on the test slide since we use a lot of unstained slides that have been cut as part of a histology protocol when the H&E slides are prepared.

I'd like to know how many labs batch their controls when the same antibody is ordered on multiple cases. Do you run the control on a separate slide, or with one of the cases ordered?
