Vanessa Orsini asks about brazilin as a red nuclear counterstain,
noting that she has some dry powder but no directions for it.
Indeed brazilin is structurally very similar to hematoxylin. You might
try substituting it for dry hematoxylin, with a Mayer formula -
aluminum mordant, iodate oxidant.
Alternatively, Anatech offers a proprietary "Brazilliant", a similar
preparation, which I would certainly try out myself if I had the
chance.
