[Histonet] Nails softened up during grossing process or at the microtome bench?

Should be softened BEFORE tissue processing using 10% aq. sol. of sodium hydroxide during 30 min → wash → process as usual.<P>René J.

Hello to everyone.  What is the general concensus on softening up of nails before cutting?  Does anyone have a process that the gross tech follows or is it done at the microtome bench?
