yes i set the temp. to -20 degrees but it is 20 for the last week.

Are you sure the temperature control is set properly?  This maybe a serious problem, but it is possible that the people who do the ordinary repairs on refrigeration equipment for the university can repair it.  You should ask them if they can help you.
