Robert-

The artifact you describe is almost always due to varying combinations of two issues:
    1) overprocessing the biopsies, making them tough, and
    2) too agressive facing of the blocks.  
Thick facing sections cause cracks deep in the tough tissue.

I have worked through these issues in the past, but patience is required.  Soak and chill the blocks repeatedly while facing in at normal sectioning thickness.  You will need to work through the area of the biopsies that have the cracks forced into their structure.  With luck, you will have enough good tissue deeper in the block to provide a good section.

Hi, All we are having problems with chatter in our biopsies their usually on the edge of tissue is the a problem with the cutting or in the handling of the tissue after it is removed from the patient like the biopsies being left out to dry or not put in formalin what are some of your experience with this..
