[Histonet] gross only specimens

We have a policy which includes a list of tissues that are not required to 
be sent to the lab as well as a list of gross only specimens.   This 
policy is presented at the Medical  Staff meeting and is approved in that 
committee.  Changes are made through the same committee.  The Laboratory 
Medical Director and the Chief of Surgical Services both sign off on the 
policy.

[Histonet] gross only specimens






Hi All,

There is a new standard from JCAHO addressing which tissue specimens 
require only a macroscopic examination.  Does anyone have a list of 
specimens that fit this standard. We are in the process of writing up a 
policy for this and would appreciate your help.
