  You are not required to keep them. Remember that you stain them and your pathologists send their interpretation. Later, when you receive the results from the survey that implies that you made the test, and that is all.
  No laboratory is required to participate in the proficiency test, so CAP cannot require to keep something that you don't have if not participating.
  On the other hand, they are a very good material for residents' training and in that sense you should consult with your laboratory director before pitching them.
