We replace oour lapping plates when they get so thin that they can not
be properly "resurfaced" or honed. If they slip off of each other when
they are being honed...they are too thin.

Histonetters,

For those of you who still use the Shandon Autosharp 5 for knife
sharpening like me, how do you know when you need to replace the lapping
plates?

Thanks.
