On our old processor, which we use for CWD, we change cleaning reagents at least every three runs. We change or rotate reagents every 5 runs or 300 blocks whichever comes first.

Subject: [Histonet] changing processor reagents

Hi,

I would like to know what criteria people are using to determine when to
change or rotate reagents on their tissue processors. Is there a
certain # of cassettes processed, or # of processing runs, or other
criteria? Do you take into consideration the type of tissue processed?

We are using a Thermo-Shandon Excelsior, and find that the reagent
quality monitor is not a reliable tool for assessing reagent quality and
are looking to establish some new guidelines for reagent rotation.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Dave.
