The "saliva method" is not only unhealthy, but disgusting.
  I used to buy my malt diastase from Fisher (Fisher brand "maltin" Cat.No. D22-100) and prepared at 0.5 g diluted in diastase buffer (40 mL). Incubated in oven at 37ºC x 1 hour.
