Dear Renee,
   
  This can be accomplished easily using frozen block cryoenmbedding. This is a two step 
  embedding process. First the tissue is frozen in a block of embedding medium. This now firm easy to cut frozen block is then sectioned on edge. The resulting slices are then embedded on edge  either face down in a well  ( mold) or just by lying it face up on a chuck. You can do the first freeze between any two pieces of freezing temp metal.
