We have used Histosolve from Thermo Electron (formerly Thermo Shandon) for
over 10 years for all of our processing and staining. We have had no
troubles with any applications including our immunos.
The only thing we use real xylene for anymore is the purge cycles on our
processors.

Subject: [Histonet] Xylene Substitutes

Histonetters,

My lab is considering switching to a xylene substitute for tissue processing
and other routine use. Someone had mentioned that they tried to switch to a
xylene substitute a number of years ago and they had trouble getting a few
of their antibodies to work. Has anyone else had a similar problem? If so,
what substitute did you try and what antibodies were a problem?

Thanks,
Julie
