[Histonet] cut the old paraffin block

Dear histonetters,
 
 I was trying to cut the about 3 years old paraffin today but failed. I keep all my paraffin blocks in file drawer at room temperature. I tried to cut the sample after it was put on ice water for 1hr, 3 hr and even 5 hrs but still feel dry. 
Anybody know why I cannot make it? Any suggestion would be highly appreciated!
