[Histonet] burn artifact

Michele,
Are you microwave processing or using a regular tissue processor? If you are
using a regular tissue processor, might want to check the paraffin
temperatures and settings. If you are microwave processing, I can't help you
there. While demoing a microwave tissue processor here, one of the runs
fried our biopsies to a crisp. I'm talking charbroiled, well done, toasted
ashes here, not just burned. The words microwave and processing cannot be
used in my lab in the same sentence any more.

Joe

Subject: [Histonet] burn artifact

Hi All,

One of our Pathologists is complaining about a "burn artifact" on his GYN
slides. We lowered the temp of our paraffin baths to 58 degrees in hopes
that they would look better, but he still is seeing this artifact. We
process the tissues for about 5 hours total. Anyone have any ideas about
what may be causing this?

Thanks,

Michele
